Marine Floating Hose Breakaway Coupling

Marine Floating Hose Breakaway Coupling

EW Fuel Management Ltd supplies the marine floating hose breakaway coupling. The Marine Breakaway Coupling provides safe disconnection in the event of uncontrolled movement of the hose during the transfer of fluids. Consequently, spillage is prevented thus protecting operators, equipment, and the environment.

EWFM (EW Fuel Management Ltd) is a multi-disciplinary distributor based in Royston near Cambridge, England, supplying equipment for the safe transfer of liquids, gases, and particulates.

EWFM Specialise in Swivel Joints, Loading and Unloading ArmsCouplingsBreakaway CouplingsFilling and Emptying EquipmentHose, Agitators and Mixers, Access Systems, Storage Tank Equipment and Aircraft and Helicopter Equipment for the Oil & Gas, Food and Drink, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Power Generation and the Defensive and Aviation Industries.

At the onset, aircraft refuelling and fuel tanker equipment have been and continue to be a specialty of EWFM in both the defense and civil markets.  From supplying to the aviation and oil and gas industries,  the company has now diversified into other hazardous markets such as pharmaceutical, chemical, food and drink, and power generation.

EWFM’s product expertise ensures that customers are recommended the most suitable equipment for their application. Having supplied many thousands of our products, our reputation as a reliable company is known both worldwide and in the UK.

What is a Coupling?

A coupling is a device that links two pieces of pipe or tubing together. It can also refer to other types of connections, such as electrical connectors. In plumbing, couplings are typically used to connect two shorter pieces of pipe together to form a longer length of pipe. The most common type of coupling is threaded coupling, which uses threads on either end of the pipe to secure it in place. This connection is popular because it’s easy to make and doesn’t require special tools or skills. A coupling is a device used to connect two shafts together at their ends for the purpose of transmitting torque. A coupling does not normally allow relative movement between the shafts in the axial direction, but rather it serves to transmit torque while accommodating misalignment.

What Is Flange?

A flange, on the other hand, connects two pipes by welding them together with bolts or screws. This type of connection requires more skill than threaded coupling because welding must be done properly in order to ensure a strong seal between the pipes. Flanges also have an advantage over couplings in terms of strength; when properly installed, they can withstand pressure significantly better than couplings can. A flange is a device used to connect two pipes or other cylindrical objects together. A flange can be either welded or bolted to the pipe or object it is connecting. Flanges are typically made from metals such as steel or stainless steel.

Difference Between Coupling and Flange

Advantages of Couplings

Couplings have several advantages over flanges. One advantage is that they can accommodate misalignment between the two shafts they are connecting. Another advantage is that couplings can be easily removed and replaced if necessary, while flanges must be cut off and welded back on.

Advantages of Flanges

Flanges also have several advantages over couplings. One advantage is that they provide a stronger connection than couplings. Another advantage is that flanges can be used to connect pipes of different diameters, while couplings can only be used to connect shafts of the same diameter.

Disadvantages of Couplings

One disadvantage of couplings is that they cannot accommodate large amounts of misalignment between the two shafts they are connecting. Another disadvantage is that they can become worn over time and need to be replaced more frequently than flanges.

Disadvantages of Flanges

One disadvantage of flanges is that they require welding or bolting for installation, which can be difficult or impossible in some situations. Another disadvantage is that flanges cannot be easily removed and replaced like couplings.

Conclusion:

Couplings and flanges both have their own advantages and disadvantages when it comes to connecting pipes together. While couplings tend to be easier to install, they do not provide as much strength as flanges do when under pressure. On the other hand, flanges require more skill and time for installation but offer superior strength once installed correctly. Understanding these differences can help you decide which type of connection you should use for your project based on your needs and available resources.
