Principle and operation of Narrow Band Direct Printing (NBDP)
1. Principles of Narrow Band Direct Printing (NBDP).
Narrow Band Direct Printing (NBDP) is a printed record of a communication message. If a ship is in a distress situation it will be good to have a printed record of all communications that occur during the operation.
NBDP is a term we use to describe the method of sending information over the radio and after it is printed. In some of these publications it is called TELEX, a system used in communication over the coast / land that is carried out between offices.
One disadvantage of using NBDP for communication is that operators who are skilled to receive news are needed.the advantage is that there is a hard copy-all written communication. NBDP communication uses digital signals to connect between communicators.
2. NBDP Operating Procedure.
The following NBDP Operating Steps:
- Turn on (switch on).
- SSB (single side band).
- NBDP (narrow band direct printing).
