Shipyard facilities for ship repair
The facilities contained in the shipyards for ship repair play a major role in determining the quality of a ship repair. In general, these facilities are used to raise and lower the ships to be repaired so that reparation work, especially for underwater works can be carried out. Below are the facilities and facilities at the shipyard used for ship repair:
1. Keel block.
A standard test casting, for steel and other high-shrinkage alloys, consisting of a rectangular bar that resembles the keel of a boat, attached to the bottom of a large riser, or shrinkhead. Keel blocks that have only one bar are often called Y-blocks; keel blocks having two bars, double keel blocks. Test specimens are machined from the rectangular bar, and the shrinkhead is discarded.

2. Side Block.
Side block is wood that is used to prop the side of the ship. The height of the side block must be adjusted to the height of the bottom of the ship’s dock. Whereas the distance to the block is adjusted to the width of the ship to be repaired.

3. Cradel.
Cradle is a device used to pull a ship from the sea to the destination runway. Cradles are usually used to attract small and medium size ships.

4. Rail.
Rails in shipyards are fixed lines made of steel and used for lorry stands both during docking and undocking.

5. Steel Wire Roop.
Steel wire roop functions to pull or lower the lorry when the ship will be docking or undocking.

6. Roll.
Roll on the shipyard serves to facilitate the process of pulling the rope as well as a place to roll the rope. This tool is very often used on ships both for small size ships and large size vessels.

7. Winch.
Winch functions to rotate the roll of the rope rollers so that the steel rope that functions to pull the cradle can be rolled up, so that the cradle can be pulled ashore.

8. Sturt.
This sturt is made of steel that is welded to the cradle, which is mounted when the ship is docked. The function of this sturt is the binding of the ship when the ship will be pulled up ashore.

9. Beam Tire in Cradle.
This tapered beam consists of two kinds of wood, softwood and hardwood. This beam serves to prop the tilted side of the ship.
