STANDARD LIGHTING AND HEAT-TRACE PANELS SERIES 8146 FOR MARINE

STANDARD LIGHTING AND HEAT-TRACE PANELS SERIES 8146 FOR MARINE

Many different variants of R. STAHL’s lighting and heating circuit distribution systems are available; coupled with the customer-specific options on offer, these systems are incredibly versatile. Practical details enhance the safety and user-friendliness of the fuse panels, and short delivery times mean that you can have these systems up and running in next to no time.

The power distribution boards for lighting circuits and heat tracing systems produced by R. STAHL allow equipment to be safely operated in hazardous areas. The circuit breakers are impressively user-friendly and provide assured safety: In no time at all, they can be installed behind a hinged inspection glass; they can be actuated from outside, even when live, and the switching position is always visible. The standard variants have up to 36 outgoing lines and are designed for rated operational currents of up to 160 A. On request, we can also produce customer-specific variants.

  • Power distribution board for lighting circuits and heat tracing systems
  • Nominal current of 6-40 A, rated tripping current of 30 mA, switching capacity of 10 kA
  • Featuring a miniature circuit breaker (tripping characteristic C) or a residual current circuit breaker and an overcurrent release (tripping characteristic C)

R. STAHL Series 8118 junction boxes are equipped with 4, 5 or 8 mantle terminals depending on their design size. As an option, miniature fuses can still be installed in addition. Junction boxes are therefore also suitable for safeguarding. The robust enclosure made from glass fibre reinforced polyester resin can be equipped with plastic or metal cable glands.

  • Resistant Ex e enclosure, universally usable as connection or junction boxes and/or to safeguard electric distributors up to 6.3 A
  • IP66 degree of protection
  • With mantle terminals or with a combination of mantle terminals and miniature fuses (optional).

A vessel was in port and the crew was loading logs on to the hatch covers. The securing system involved the use of foot wires, snatch blocks, and a wiggle wire (see image). Although it was dark, the deck was well lit by the ship’s own floodlights and the floodlights on the wharf.

The crew was wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), which included boot spikes to reduce the risk of slipping on the wet logs. The number one crane was being used to tension the wiggle wire, and two deck crew were standing close by to check the tension in the wire. The bosun was communicating with the crane operator using hand signals.

Tension was brought on the wiggle wire and then stopped at a signal from the bosun. The bosun started to walk towards the two-deck crew in preparation to attach bulldog grips to secure the tensioned wire when a foot wire directly in front of the two-deck crew suddenly parted.
